A film about time
Nicolas Ker died on May 17, 2021. He was 50 years old.
With his band Poni Hoax, as a solo artist, or with Arielle Dombasle, he was an unclassifiable figure on the French music scene.
Incandescent. Inexhaustible. Self-destructive. Haunted by the ghosts of a family massacred by the Khmer Rouge. Voluble. Erudite. An elusive mind.
He was also a close friend of 30 years, since high school and since we formed a band after graduation. I filmed him intermittently, regularly.
From 1991 to 2021. Thirty years of images, sounds, private and public moments, attempting to reconstruct the power of who he was, for me and for others.
